Can't stand

Can anyone else not STAND these things? Are they supposed to stop stupid people from posting things? If so then I must be stupid! Half the time I have to type these things in like 3 times. Can someone tell me what the point of them is??

Remember?

I've been tagged! As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

New hair!

New short hair. Ahhhhh!!! I haven't had it this short in a long time but I'm really liking it! There you go mom :)

Conversations over G-chat!

Myra and I have G-chat at work and like to talk to each other during the day. Sometimes our conversations are deep other times they are crazy! I won't bore you with the deep ones, but here are a few of the crazy ones...

Brooke: oh my gosh I have a headache today...no caffeine :(
Myra: uh oh. I think it is funny how you go off of it, and then go back on it
Brooke: I know, well I guess I just feel like I'm not addicted to it because I can go off it forever if I wanted...I just like the taste too much! And it's not like I'm purposefully going and getting caffeine, those are just the sodas I like…
I think I'm rationalizing, but whatever :)
Myra: ha ha, well I don't think it is a bad thing. It is just funny.
Brooke: ya me too actually
Myra: I used to not like the taste of colas, but now I do
Brooke: it's a bad thing to love :)
Myra: there are worse things. Like crack cocaine
Brooke: true dat
Myra: or Meth. I was addicted to meth once
Brooke: I can see that!
Myra: or pornography
Brooke: yikes...ok I get the hint :)
Myra: you were addicted to that before
Brooke: I was actually
Myra: ha ha ha! well...Twilight
Brooke: yes I could be addicted to Twilight and then where would we be?!
Myra: porn addict...that is where you would be. Twilight is just soft porn
Brooke: hahahaha!! I love it! Give me some of that good soft, squishy porn!
Myra: ha ha ha!! This has been an enjoyable conversation
Brooke: yes it has!
Myra: I think you should blog about it
Brooke: ok

and...

Brooke: you know what I love? When I go to bed without showering after we go swimming and even though I shower in the morning my skin still smells like chlorine :) It's like it's just soaked it all up!!
Myra: oooh that sounds so delightful! You are a chlorine whore!
Brooke: No I'm not. I just don't know who I am (reference to a Format song)
Myra: someday when you know who you are, you won't have to turn to chlorine for love
Brooke: it's very true. It's just so comforting and i can be myself around it and it doesn't judge me. I can't leave that
Myra: And it can be very warm and bubbly
Brooke: very
Myra: that is hard to leave
Brooke: I know, but I'm trying. I mean I kicked squishy porn so I figure I can kick this
Myra: squishy porn and chlorine whore are in the same category that is for sure
Brooke: they are gateway addictions to one another
Myra: yes...they are.....maybe you should take up meth next time instead of all of these sexual addictions
Brooke: it's probably less addicting
Myra: it is. I mean I love the stuff but I can stop any time
Brooke: that's what you tell yourself
Myra: no it is true. I can stop today....I just don't really want to
Brooke: we're actually staging an intervention tonight for you but don't tell anyone I told you. We're just worried Myra!
Myra: what! I am not sticking around for an intervention. I really am fine!
Brooke: No you're not Myra, you're sick
Myra: you guys are just jealous
Brooke: you're right and do you want us to keep having those bad feelings?? You need to quit for our sake
Myra: no...I can share, there is enough meth for everyone. You just need to go to the grocery store and buy the right ingredients
Brooke: no there's not, we've tried that before and it didn't work. You are too selfish
Myra: wow that is harsh
Brooke: it has to be said...I'm sorry
Myra: CHLORINE WHORE
Brooke: METH ADDICT!!!
Myra: how do you like those words? Words hurt you know
Brooke: yes, yes they do

Ok maybe they are just funny to us....Love you Myra!!!

The Best Feeling in the World!

I realize you can’t really have more then one “best feeling in the world”. But maybe they all just tie as the best feeling in the world. Here are a few of mine…

1. Skinny dipping: I have been skinny dipping for about 10 years now in everything from pools to lakes to hot tubes to oceans and I will tell anyone who wants to know that this is one of the best feelings in the world. It’s just very…freeing. If you have never experienced it then try it…you’ll never want to swim with a swimsuit on again.

2. Driving through the redwoods with the windows down and the music on: I grew up in Northern California on the coast in the heart of the redwoods. I love that area and I miss the green everywhere and the fog in the sky. Driving down the Avenue of the Giants and feeling the cool wind on your face and smelling the wood and having a great song surround you has got to be the best feeling in the world.

3. Sitting in the Celestial room of the temple: There is no other feeling like being in the temple. The quite, peaceful, warm feeling that is always there and especially in the Celestial room is the best feeling in the world.

4. Being with my family: Sitting in the living room at my parents house as we all tell the same old stories, usually tease my dad in some way, yell because we can’t hear ourselves think, and have tears running down our faces from laughing so hard is the best feeling in the world!

5. Taking a final: I realize that that doesn’t sound right…and I guess I mean more like finishing a final because you know at that point you are DONE with that class. No more homework, tests or classes to go to. And no matter how good or bad you ended up doing in the class…you are done and there is nothing that you can do about it now except rejoice that you are done! Best feeling in the world!

6. Paragliding: This has got to be one of my all time favorite things to do. I went paragliding twice in Switzerland and it is amazing. The feeling of flying peacefully through the air like a bird and not having a care in the world is incredible. I would recommend paragliding over skydiving any day. Both are fun, but paragliding is a lot less scary. Try it…best feeling in the world!

7. Moving to a new place: Though this event has a lot of feelings intertwined with it, it is still the best feeling in the world. Maybe it is the mixture of all those emotions; loneliness, anticipation, excitement, fear, that makes it the best feeling in the world.

I’m going to keep thinking about this and add more as I go along. What are some of your best feelings in the world?!

Cleaver North Wind

I love the movie Chocolat and if you haven’t seen it then you really need to but that isn’t the reason for this blog. There is a theme throughout that movie about the cleaver north wind never letting you feel settled. It’s always whispering of new adventures and new things to see. That wind comes and whispers in my ear about every 6 months. I moved to Vegas in January and of course the north wind is blowing. It’s so strange how I know I have been somewhere for 6 months because I feel like it’s time to move on. I don’t understand when people say they don’t like change…I crave it! I love it!! I need a change! I want to go back to Europe and as far fetched as this may be, I want to move to Australia. I have a friend that lives there and I guess something has changed with working laws between the US and Australia so now Americans and work in Australia for a year. Wouldn’t that be SUCH and adventure?! I just feel like life is too short to stay in the same place doing the same thing for too long. There is SO much to see and do and experience in this world and I want to do it all. I know I’ve already done a lot but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to do more. I’m greedy I guess. There is a quote that I found once but I can’t remember who said it. It goes…”Every dreamer knows it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you’ve never been too, even more so then for familiar ground.” I feel that is SO true! There are places I want to go so badly that it makes my heart hurt. Well I know I should be settling down and making a life…I just can’t do it. Especially now when I’m single, I feel like now is the time to do it. I won’t ever have this time again in my life to do whatever I want whenever I want and I feel like I’ll look back and regret not taking advantage of that. The hard part is that I love my family and friends too much to be away from them for too long. Anyway, I think I’m rambling now, but I think this is a huge part of who I am and my personality. I want to see the world and experience things. I won’t ever be settled with an ordinary job in and ordinary place doing ordinary things. This is really corny but the first time I heard the song Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson I felt like it was my theme song. And they apply a lot to this blog I think. So here are the lyrics…

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

[Chorus:]
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway
I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
